A new road or a secret gate

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

I am borrowing from hobbitses, creatures with hairy feet, singing songs as they travel and discover new sights. They set out towards Rivendell, leaving their safe home in the Shire. Me, I am leaving the safety of my WoW blog, Tank like a Girl, to discover the big wide world beyond that game, living like a nerd. Thanks for joining me.

When my spouse and I moved to our current home, it was to a part of Germany where your license plate starts with NE. It was no question for us, we wanted to buy plates with RD on them. Ideally with something silly like 1337 or 404. Unfortunately the numbers weren’t available, so we went with the random 202. Still, proud nerds, and we call our car the Nerdmobile, currently in incarnation 2.0. Our living room wall is covered up with wall stickers from Space Invasion. We love books. We both love SF&F. I love computer games. My first serious passion in games was Ultima IV. I have played various pen&paper RPGs over the years, D&D, Shadowrun, World of Darkness, Star Wars, etc. I met my wife on a MUSH when we were 5,000 miles apart from each other. I have tons of American friends, from the various games we played together. I should be a card-carrying member of the Bioware fanclub. I play MMOs, not just WoW.

And now I am going to blog about it.

I will blog about all of the above, anything that will come to my mind. As what I am currently doing will vastly influence the content, here are things I currently spend my time with.

• Currently reading: going to re-read all existing books of A Song of Ice and Fire, because I am so pumped for the TV show and the next book.
• Currently playing: WoW, Rift, Dragon Age 2. The former on weekends, Rift during the week, and DA2 on my 2nd playthrough, whenever the mood hits me. Friendmancing Merrill this time. Ah, I shall have to post about that.

Regular posting will begin tomorrow, and I definitely hope to have a far more steady schedule than I ever had over at TlaG.
